Beautiful village scene with a still life with a bouquet of flowers surrounded by a drawing sheet in the center of the composition. Charles Walch, born in 1896 in Thann (Alsace) and died in 1948 in Paris, is a French painter, engraver and sculptor. A student at the Decorative Arts in Paris, he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants d'Alsace and became a drawing teacher. In 1929, he was a teacher of Bernard Boesch and introduced him to modern art. From 1929, he settled in a studio on rue Borromée (15th arrondissement) in Paris and remained there for the rest of his life. Despite his isolation and financial difficulties, he managed to assert his style, adding color to many fantasies in his works.
