"Orsini Bomb "
The Orsini bomb is an improvised explosive device manufactured by, and named after, Felice Orsini and used as a grenade on 14 January 1858 in a failed attempt on the life of Napoleon III. These weapons were used quite commonly during a wave of militant anarchist violence in the second half of the 19th century in Europe, and surplus bombs were also used by the Confederacy during the American Civil War. Their design is reminiscent of modern impact grenades, such as Soviet RGO hand grenades. Orsini bombs were designed to eliminate "the uncertainty of slow-burning fusion weapons"4kg
