A charming impressionist painting with bright, contrasting colors in a bucolic landscape.
Paul Pascal depicts an elegant woman at the edge of a pond facing a cottage. The character's outfit allows us to date the canvas around 1895.The painter uses bright, contrasting colors. A bright red umbrella and ribbon create a nice contrast with the greens of the vegetation; pinks and beiges soften the overall effect.
Paul Pascal plays with the reflections of the cottage and those of the light in the water.
The tartan patterns on the elegant woman's blouse echo the dominant colors of the canvas.
