Émile Gallé (1846-1904) was a French master glassmaker, cabinetmaker and ceramist. He was the founder and first president of the Ecole de Nancy. Passionate about nature, botany and symbols, he drew inspiration from them to create unique works in glass and marquetry wood. His fame spread throughout the world after participating in the 1878 Universal Exhibition and he won 4 gold medals
