Painter, theater designer, engraver, mosaicist, Alain Hiéronimus devoted a large part of his work to abstract and lyrical compositions. He was president of the society of decorative artists from 1972 to 1973. He notably decorated an apartment on the ocean liner France, and one can also see a work by this mosaic artist at the entrance to the campus of the city of Sceaux.
Founded in 1949, Raymond Picaud's workshop was a major player in the revival of Aubusson tapestry in the 20th century, at the end of the Second World War, associating its name and the excellence of its work with the names of renowned artists (Jean Cocteau, Charles Lapicque, Alexandre Calder, Marc Petit, Jean Picart le Doux, Pierre Baudouin, Dominique Fénelon, Alain Cornic, Carmen Charpin, Janine Jacob, Alain Hieronimus, Claude Loewer, Le Corbusier, etc.)
