Jbb Demay, Rare Pair Of Secret Stools, Stamped, Directoire-consulate Period.

Very beautiful and rare pair of Klismos stools called "with secrets" in mahogany and mahogany veneer, from the Empire-Consulate period.
In Klismos shape, also called "Etruscan" with their four legs curved outwards, these stools have an antique back support finished with a scroll concealing, on each side, a long secret drawer carved with a rosette on the facade.

Very beautiful work by the cabinetmaker Jean-Baptiste Bernard Demay (1759-1848), whose stamp is still visible under one of the two stools.

This very beautiful pair of secret stools has just been restored by an art cabinetmaker. With new tapestry, horsehair filling.

Directoire-Consulate period, 1800-1810.

Stamped DEMAY RUE DE CLÉRY, stamp used by the Master cabinetmaker from the revolution, replacing that used under Louis XVI: IBB DEMAY.
