Antique Flemish Painting, 18th Century.

The work represented in the photo is an oil painting on canvas, in Baroque style, probably dating back to the late 17th and early 18th century, very common in Flemish and Italian painting of the period.

The painting features a rich floral and fruit composition, typical of Baroque still lifes, with a prevalence of flowers such as roses, peonies, tulips and hydrangeas, arranged in a semicircular and symmetrical shape that frames the central scene.

In the lower part, various fruits are visible: white and red grapes, cherries, figs, apples, apricots, and tomatoes, painted with great attention to detail and material realism.

At the center of the composition, in a dark niche, a small figure of the Madonna and Child is compared, a sacred iconographic element that contrasts with the profane abundance of the still life around it.

This devotional insert could indicate a spiritual symbolism: life (fruits and flowers) surrounding salvation (the Madonna and Child).

The use of chiaroscuro is marked, with a dark background that highlights the warm and bright colors of the flowers and fruits.
