"Gold Chatelaine From The Second Part Of The 19th Century"
Three-gold chatelaine (yellow, green and pink) consisting of a hook decorated with a medallion with fine guilloché and semi-dots and chiseled motifs in a plant frieze frame on a matte gold background, a central medallion decorated with a rosette of foliage on a matte gold background and charms. The medallions are linked together by chains whose links are finely worked and decorated with flowers and geometric motifs. Two charms are suspended from it: a watch key and an opening egg from an earlier period (18th century). This chatelaine illustrates the taste for historicism which developed in the second part of the 19th century with as a characteristic a return to the styles of the past. With its fine and rich decoration, this chatelaine reflects the decorative repertoire of the Louis XVI style.
