Beautiful old work which represents a mythological scene or an allegory in a landscape with a ruin and animated by animals: sheep and cows.
Should we see an allegory to love, the meeting of Mars and the nymphs ...?

We find this inventory and collection label on the back of the panel on other major known works by: Simone CANTARINI (1612-1648), GUIDO RENI, Micheal SCHNITZLER... and whose the provenance would correspond to: "probably Prince Eugène-Rose de Beauharnais (1781-1824), Duke of Leuchtenberg His second son and heir, Maximilien-Eugène-Auguste-Joseph-Napoléon (1817-1852) Duke of Leuchtenberg".

The composition of this work is undeniably close to that of the painter Cornelius Van Poelenberg or Poelenburgh.
Additional research at the buyer's expense.

Painting to be cleaned, presence of an old varnish preventing the readability of the work by its shine.
