Diamond-shaped Console From Vietnam At The 1889 Paris World's Fair

Superb exotic wood console designed in Vietnam for the Paris World Fair in 1889.
Very original in its shape, it has a parallelepiped-shaped top inlaid with bone decoration representing a lake scene with palace architecture and animated by characters and boats sailing on the waters.
The top is mounted with miter cuts and rests on a superb base inlaid with light bone motifs:
fish, bats, etc.
The 4 feet surround a second top at the base completely carved and openwork with a dragon. The whole is in perfect condition with remarkable quality of carving and inlays.
Excellent condition, no lack or restoration.
Very stable, solid and very original, a console from Vietnam that is truly out of the ordinary.

maximum length of 96 cm by a width of 30.5 cm and 91 cm high.
