This chest of drawers is a fine example of Sicilian furniture from the 19th century, a period in which the island boasted a cabinet-making production of notable quality and a distinctive taste. Its aesthetics reflect the stylistic evolution of the time, which in Italy and in particular in the South, while assimilating European influences, maintained a strong local identity.
