An exceptional bronze sculpture by world-renowned artist Igor Mitoraj, titled “Persée”, from his iconic series of mythological torsos, which also includes Asklepios and Helios. This piece is numbered D 419 / 1000 and comes with the original certificate of authenticity, hand-signed by the artist – an exceedingly rare and highly sought-after document for collectors.

Crafted in patinated green bronze, this work exemplifies Mitoraj’s signature aesthetic – a powerful fusion of classical beauty and intentional fragmentation, evoking both the grandeur of antiquity and the existential fragility of modern man. The sculpted torso, rendered incomplete, reflects Mitoraj’s exploration of time, memory, and transcendence.

The trilogy Persée, Asklepios, Helios reinterprets ancient Greek mythological figures through a contemporary sculptural language – minimalist yet profound, fragmented yet eternal.

Igor Mitoraj (1944–2014), a French-Polish sculptor of global acclaim, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and later in Paris. Today, he is considered one of the most influential sculptors of the late 20th century. His monumental works are installed in iconic locations such as Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa, Kraków's flower market, Versailles gardens, and La Défense in Paris. His unique blend of classical form and modern symbolism has left an indelible mark on contemporary sculpture.

Excellent original condition, with a rich green patina and mounted on a natural travertine marble base.
