Object description :

"Baroque Watch Holder, 18th Century, Polychrome Openwork Wood: Patience Of Chronos"
Superb pocket watch display, one of those fine thick watches, which were called "onion" under French Regence and Louis XV. Placed in the evening near bed, it served as a bedside clock.
It is a lacework of rocaille sculpture, from resinous wood, a knotless pine, period color and gilding.
The patient Chronos, Greek demi-God personifying time, bearded, sitting on a mound, leaning on his large hourglass, counts the time we have left... ...
Alpine work, Austria, Italy, Tyrol, from 18th century.
Good condition, all original, (except a screw of base), I only removed a troublesome varnish, polished and waxed.
gilding is still beautiful.
29cm x 15cm x 7.5cm.
Look carefully at our photos.
