"Small 19th Century Shop Counter In Its Original Paint"
An old 19th-century trading counter, an authentic piece of work furniture, still in its original black paint, now worn, chipped, and marked. The surface shows the marks of heavy use. The front is paneled in relief, in a simple, almost severe style. Matching sides. At the back, two solid shelves with irregular edges and a drawer with a lock. An interesting detail: a slot running through the top allowed coins to be slipped directly into it, which fell into the secure drawer—a rudimentary closed cash register system, common in workshop counters or small country shops.
