"Ed. Toulousaine End Of 18th Century: From The Social Contract, Or Principles Of Political Law, By Jj Rousseau"
A rare Toulouse publication by JJ. Rousseau in one volume in 16, from the end of the 18th century (undated), by Douladoure, Bookseller, rue Saint-Rome, in full sheepskin, almond morocco title, a copy of the new edition of "The Social Contract", or Principles of Political Law, by JJ Rousseau; a charming, sober and complete copy of this founding text of the French Revolution..... "The Social Contract" is a work of political philosophy by Jean-Jacques Rousseau published in 1762 for the first time. The central idea of the work is that the Citizens of a State must unite to protect themselves and ensure their Liberty. The Social Contract, the bonds uniting Citizens among themselves, does not therefore obey a natural Law, but is a convention, which all must respect so that Society can function. The book was banned in France upon its release and earned Rousseau prosecution.
