"Reuge Sainte-croix Switzerland Music Box Clock"
Very beautiful music box acting as a pendulum, from the famous Swiss brand Reuge in Sainte-Croix, manufactured in the second half of the 20th century. Cylinder movement with 60 blades and 12 different musical tunes listed in the photo. Each passage of the hour triggers a different musical tune over twelve hours and the cycle begins again. The tunes always pass in the same order, so, with attention, one can know the time by ear. A button allows you to listen to the tunes and set the desired tune for the next passage. The clock movement is quartz, the dial has Roman numerals and Breguet hands. A glass cover protects the mechanism. The box is made of varnished rosewood decorated with rosewood fillets on each side and a gilded brass mascaron on the cover. A testament to Swiss refinement, this musical clock in precious wood seduces with its timeless elegance. It is in superb condition, no dents or scratches, and works perfectly, precisely. Beautiful and pure sound of the melodies. Dimensions, 23.3x14.3x12 cm. The name Reuge is synonymous with unsurpassed quality and craftsmanship. Charles Reuge founded his music box factory in 1865 in the small Swiss town of Sainte-Croix. He began by making small watches with tiny music box movements. His eldest son took over the business and opened a Reuge workshop where he continues to create musical movements. The company's factory is still located in Sainte-Croix today and has always produced beautiful pieces with a full range of movements, from the simple 22-note to the multi-note 144-note. The company soon abandoned the 22- and 36-note mechanisms to focus solely on their much larger 50- and 72-note mechanisms. It takes three months to create a Reuge music box and the mastery of 34 trades is necessary to carry out the different stages of production.
