"The Villa Kérylos in Beaulieu-sur-Mer"
Oil on canvas,
Signed lower left,
Beautiful work, in soft colors, by the Nice painter Maurice La Bany which represents a view of the villa Kérylos on the Pointe des Fourmis in Beaulieu-sur-Mer.
Théodore Reinach chose the rocky point of the Baie des Fourmis in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, to build his luxurious vacation home: the Villa Kérylos. This villa, built between 1902 and 1908 by the architect Emmanuel Pontremoli, is none other than the reconstruction of a luxurious palace on the island of Delos in Greece.
Originally from Nice, Maurice La Bany was a student of Léon Bonnat at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
He mainly painted landscapes of the Côte d'Azur, including Nice and Saint-Tropez.
A painter, Maurice La Bany is also a tenor.
Note: An old, minor restoration, without any impact, should be noted.
Dimensions: 31 x 47 cm without frame and 40.5 x 56.5 cm with its original gilded wooden frame.
