"Empire Period Clock In Gilt Bronze. "
Early 19th century Empire clock from the time of General Bonaparte's conquest of Egypt. The theme is the musician on her gondola seat with her back to the clock face holding a piece of music in her left hand. On the left, a music stand, a harp, and music scores are lit by an oil lamp. The enameled dial is signed Bertrand in Paris, framed by spindle-shaped uprights, ending in sphinx heads, supporting the table top. The wire movement works perfectly. The seat has been repainted black, and the gilding of the figure has been cleaned a little too much.
