Large art deco style vase in glazed terracotta with a naturalistic decoration of a naked woman hunting with a bow and arrows. Georges Ferry (1881-1948) evokes in his decoration themes dear to the 1930s, the representation of women, here an amazon with a bow, the arrows, as well as an exotic bird, all in a forest setting. The characters, as well as the lower band are here in relief, released in the mass, using the sgraffito technique, while the trees are slightly incised in hollow. Georges Ferry is a decorative painter better known for his work on glassware, having worked for the Daum and Gallé establishments, but having also decorated ceramics for various workshops.
