"Japanese Ivory Statuette Representing A Basket Porter, Meiji Period"
Finely engraved Japanese ivory sculpture depicting an elderly man with a smiling face, wearing a short kimono, holding a walking stick and carrying a basket containing a rabbit on his shoulder. The peaceful expression and the precision of the details (face, textile, basket, rabbit fur) bear witness to remarkable craftsmanship typical of the Meiji period (1868–1912), a period of great export of Japanese arts to Europe. Antique object in genuine ivory, uniform honey patina. Excellent condition. No losses.
