Tapestry depicting the story of Joseph, son of Jacob, Brussels, 17th century. This important fragment of tapestry shows us several episodes from the life of Joseph. In the background, top left, Joseph as a shepherd, on the same plane, his jealous brothers lowering him into the well. On the right, the Midianite merchants who arrive to save him and sell him as a slave. In the foreground, Joseph's brothers bring his tunic back to their father Jacob to confirm his death. The colors of this tapestry are remarkably fresh and intense.
Good condition, this tapestry was cleaned and restored by an Aubusson workshop a few years ago. On this occasion, it was doubled and a new border was placed, as well as Velcro on the back to present it.
