The sculpture has its original 20th century Green Patina and rests on a beautiful decorated black marble base.
The work expressing strength, elegance and physical agilityis not signed, but is attributed to Demétre Chiparus (1886-1947).
Chiparus was born in Romania. As a young man,he stayed in Italy, where he studied and was taught by the Florentine sculptor
Raffaello Romanelli. He then moved to France and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
His teachers were Jean Boucher and Antonin Mercié.
In 1914, Chiparus began exhibiting his bronze or antiimony sculptures at the Paris Salon.
The sculpture and marble are in good condition.
