Ancient Oil Painting On Canvas Bologna 17th Century.

This important Emilian painting from the seventeenth century is to be attributed to the exquisite production of the Bolognese school.

The splendid workmanship and the refined color scheme, evidently of the highest level, suggest the attribution to a very talented author working in Bologna in the second half of the seventeenth century.

This composition, which shows the Virgin in prayer, bent over to adore the sleeping Child and Saint John the Baptist behind her, is in fact another sign of the great Bolognese pictorial culture of the late seventeenth century.
