Passionate about color and light, he quickly established himself as one of the young hopes of Belgian Luminism. His virtuosity earned him the composition prize for his anatomy study, a testament to his high standards and artistic rigor. Sadly, the First World War abruptly interrupted his promising career. A volunteer for military service, Dubois died prematurely, swept away by the Spanish flu at just 24 years old, in September 1918.
