"Basque Funerary Art Of Soldiers Killed During The War 1914-1918"
Rare and very interesting workshop plaster representing a project for a monument or stele in honor of the Basque soldiers who died for France. Monument featuring a pedestal, upper part openwork and centered on a soldier's helmet surmounted by a crown of laurel leaves. It is supported by three projecting pilasters presenting on the flats a discoidal stele with epigraph: GURE HIL MAITIERI which means "to our dear dead" and at the bottom the dates 1914-1918
On the first side, a trench scene with the title "GERLA" (war) and on the last a scene of plowing in front of the Rhune bearing the mention "BAKIA" (peace).
