"Ceres Bracelet In Silver, Björn Weckström & Lapponia."
In 1969, the Finnish goldsmith and sculptor Björn Weckström (1935) designed this “Ceres” bracelet for Lapponia Jewellery, of which he is the founder. It was created to celebrate the historic moon landing of the Apollo 11 mission. This solid silver jewel, graded at 925/°°°, is part of Weckström’s “Space Silver” series, which is inspired by space exploration and futuristic shapes, symbolizing the enthusiasm of the time for space conquests. The success of the Space Silver series was such that George Lucas chose to have Carrie Fisher, Princess Leia, wear the “Planetary Valleys” necklace in the first film of the Star Wars series, in 1975. The clasp mentions “MET” since it is the only part made of metal for reasons of solidity. Inner diameter (irregular): 5 cm and 6.5 cmWidth 1 cmWeight: 41.5 grams
