Jules-Louis Moreteau French painter, born November 18, 1886 in Bordeaux. Died in 1956. Traveling painter. He trained at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. There he was a student of François Flameng and Charles Fouqueray. He exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1922, of which he was a member. He won a silver medal in 1924, a gold medal in 1926. He was awarded the Prix de Rome in 1926. He received a scholarship and traveled to West Africa. In 1931, he exhibited at the Colonial Exhibition in Paris and Naples in 1934. He is also cited in Les Africanistes, peintres voyageurs (The Africanists, traveling painters) published by ACR, pages 158-163 and 169. "Accustomed to the wide open spaces of the Moroccan Atlas, he sought out grandiose landscapes...
