Embarkation For Cythera -

Unsigned oil painting on wood.
Measuring 45.5cm x 31.5cm without frame, 69cm x 56cm in total.
Depicting a study painted around 1850 after Antoine Watteau's Embarkation for Cythera painted in 1717.
This is not a copy but a talented reinterpretation of the painting exhibited at the Louvre in a very beautiful, energetic and modern touch for the time. The artist therefore had his entries there and is certainly not an amateur!
I have attached a photo of the original work on the carousel for comparison.
This wooden panel has bulged a little over time in the height direction, it is in very good condition.
The painting, previously cleaned, not dirty, is in very good condition, neither repainted nor repaired of any kind, nothing shows up in UV light.
In its original frame around 1850 in very good condition.
