Casimir Heymans, 1893-1984, Belgian painter, engraver and draftsman. He was the older brother of Karel Heymans to whom he taught painting. He studied at the Academy of Brussels under H. Richir and J. Delville and at the Hoger Instituut in Antwerp under J. De Bruycker and Is. Opsomer. In 1929, at the intercession of Opsomer, he made a trip to America with Achille Van Sassenbrouck and in 1930 with Frans Schuerweghs. He was also friends with Marten Melsen. He produced views of ports and the Scheldt, urban landscapes, and rural and fairground scenes. Seriously injured during the First World War, he had to relearn how to work with his left hand. He worked in Mortsel from 1926 to 1948, where he taught painting. He then moved to Antwerp, where his studio was destroyed by a V1 bomb during the Second World War. He was a member of the Belgian Original Gravure. He exhibited in Antwerp, Liège, Ghent, and Brussels. Works in the Print Room of the Royal Library of Brussels. Artist listed in Bénézit, Arto and Piron, Coté Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc...
