Antique Pedestal Bowl And Its Plate In Marbled Earthenware Attributed To Francesco Perotti.
During the Napoleonic era, two soft earthenware factories were active in Mondovì: Rinchiuso and Borgato.
At Rinchiuso, between 1805 and 1808, Francesco Perotti, inspired by Wedgwood's production, created elegant marbled earthenware items using the technique known as neriage, imitating precious stones and marble (agate ware) or tortoiseshell. The bowl and plate offered for sale here are virtually identical to two pieces exhibited at the Mondovì Ceramics Museum (https://www.museoceramicamondovi.it/visita.php?id=145), which is why we attribute them to the Emilian factory under Francesco Perotti's direction.
