"Earthenware Wig Stand Rare Object Late 17th-early 18th Century"
Wig ball, also called hairpiece holder in glazed earthenware from the late 17th century - early 18th century. Made of white glazed earthenware decorated with blue threads at the base of the ball and on the foot. Highlights of cold-applied manganese decorations representing foliage, more fragile and therefore partly erased. Shaft wound on a shower foot decorated in the same way as the upper part. I am not sure of its region of production, this model is sometimes presented as coming from Nevers but the blue threads direct me more towards certain productions from the south of France. I attach a photo of another different example found on the Internet as well as an article from the Gazette Drouot published in 2020 which you can read by clicking HERE I appeal to connoisseurs to enlighten me on the subject. No crack, no restoration, the top of the ball has a hole probably original of approximately 4 mm in diameter. Some Chips and firing defects are quite logical, I consider this item to be in good condition. Please note: very rare item. Price not negotiable. Delivery: €15 for mainland France.
