"Large French Drawing, Allegory Of The Source. Red Chalk. 18th Century."
Beautiful red chalk drawing, following Boucher, showing on the right a man in bust form holding in his hands a sort of conch, from which water escapes. Behind him, a young naked woman looks to the left, her right arm resting on the man's shoulders. Another young woman, in bust form, stands next to her, looking in the same direction. On the left two young men's faces, sketched, appear through the foliage of a tree. The pose of the main subject, the young woman, is characteristic of Boucher's paintings. Very long back, buttocks and thighs, fleshy without being large. Beautiful diagonal composition, well balanced. Slightly beige paper, original? or sunned paper? Drawing from the 18th century. Very good condition, small water stain at the bottom, in the center.
