Bronze okimono from the Meiji period 1868-1912 by the highly regarded artist AKIMITSU 明光, aka Akasofu GYOKO 赤祖父暁光.

Gyoko lived in Tokyo during the Meiji period as a sculptor specializing in high-quality bird and animal okimono, as well as casting gilded figurines and samurai warriors in the style of Miyao Eisuke. He was a member of the Tokyo Sculptors' Association (Tokyo Chokinkay), which was active during the second half of the Meiji period.
