"The Return Of The Herd. Watercolor. Jean Louis David. (1792-1868)."
Remarkable watercolor by Jean Louis David, "the return of the herd". It is not signed but annotated in ink at the bottom left of the support, and on the back, it is written that it is signed in the middle towards the bottom, which I have not seen. It is also specified that it appeared at the exhibition of romantic watercolor at the Charpentier gallery in 1944, number 51 of the catalog. Jean Louis David is an artist born in Paris in 1792 and died in Paris in 1868. He signs Portraits and Military subjects, but above all proves to be an excellent watercolorist, both precise and spontaneous, in love with clear foliage and sunny distances. Notably in his views of the surroundings of Paris that he sent to the salon from 1833 to 1866. This artist is well referenced; Bénézit, Gérald Schurr/ Pierre Cabanneet a dictionary of French landscape painters of the 19th century. The watercolor is in perfect condition in its original frame, average condition. Dimensions of the work alone, 22.5 cm x 14.5 cm. Total dimensions with the frame, 45 cm x 37 cm.
