"Ferdinandus Cornelius Carolus Millé – Bouillon Bowl In Solid Silver, Brussels, Lo Period"
Ferdinandus Cornelius Carolus Millé – Solid silver bouillon bowl, Brussels, Louis XV period circa 1750 Solid silver bouillon bowl, made in Brussels around 1750 by the silversmith Ferdinandus Cornelius Carolus Millé, active between 1750 and 1777. This covered serving piece is typical of table use under Louis XV. The flat-bottomed bowl has a curved circular body, fitted with two molded side handles with a sober decoration. The domed lid is edged with a discreet molding and topped with a cut-out and openwork handle with a stylized foliage motif, representative of the tempered rocaille taste of 18th-century Brussels silversmiths. It bears the regulatory hallmarks: hallmark of master Ferdinandus Millé, hallmark of the city of Brussels, as well as a partially illegible date hallmark. The set is in very good condition, without dents, with an even patina and a perfect fit of the lid.
