Sewing Item - Tape Measure - Mother Of Pearl

Mother-of-pearl, gold, and silk tape measure. Barrel-shaped, the body and grip are made of mother-of-pearl, the 18K gold rim is engraved with a dotted pattern. The central medallion, also in gold, is numbered ''M''. The light blue silk ribbon is marked 1/4, 1/3, and 1/2. A crack is visible on the back (see photo). The silk is fragile; the tape grip ring may be partially missing. Gross weight 13.5 gr. Period: 1st half of the 19th century, circa 1830-1850.
