Eglomisé Glass Balluster Vase With Chinese Decor
Imposing balluster vase in eglomisé glass, in Potichomanie, painted on a black background and red background with Chinese and oriental decorations, very pretty work in unusual shades, height 42.5 cm, wear to the polychromy. Potichomanie is a process invented in the 18th century to imitate expensive Chinese porcelain. It consists of cutting out illustrations executed on paper, sticking them on the inside of a glass vase and then covering the outside surface of the vase with a background paint, so as to give the whole the appearance of painted porcelain.
