Set of 6 Vintage Solid Oak Chairs, France, 1950s – Hand-Carved Backs & Perfect Caning
This elegant set of six vintage dining chairs from the 1950s was crafted from solid oak and features hand-woven cane seats in excellent condition. With their clean geometric lines, these chairs reflect the post-war modernist aesthetic, highlighting both artisanal quality and functional elegance.
Each chair has been fully re-glued for structural integrity and gently restored using an eco-friendly sandblasting process (aérogommage) that preserves the natural patina of the wood while enhancing its light blond tone and beautiful grain.
The backrests are distinguished by their hand-carved floral motif, adding refined detail to the otherwise minimalist lines. This blend of simplicity and craftsmanship gives the chairs a timeless charm. The ergonomic design provides excellent comfort, true to the functional spirit of the 1950s.
Subtly flared legs offer visual lightness and ensure stability, while their open structure promotes an airy feel, ideal for modern interiors.
With a seat height of 45 cm (17.7 in), they are perfectly suited for everyday dining. The caned seats are firm yet supple, offering excellent support.
These chairs come from a family home located in the Loire Valley, where they once hosted summer meals and long conversations around a large farmhouse table.
They will fit seamlessly into a modern, classical, or country-chic decor, and can be used:
• Around a natural wood table for a warm, authentic look
• Mixed with contemporary chairs for an eclectic feel
• Or individually, as charming side or desk chairs
A rare opportunity to acquire a complete and beautifully restored vintage set that blends comfort, quality, and timeless elegance.
