Statue of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, known as Saint Therese of Lisieux. It is made of bronze and ivory (chryselephantine). The saint, who lived from 1873 to 1897, belonged to the Discalced Carmelite order. Saint Therese was beatified in 1923 and canonized two years later. The sculpture presents one of the most common images of the saint. Saint Therese is depicted in habit, holding in one hand a crucifix and her attribute, a bouquet of roses. In the other hand, she also holds a rose flower as if to scatter its petals on the ground.
