Object description :

"Hokusai - Snake - XIXth Drawing "
19th century Japanese school, school of Katsushika HOKUSAIA snake
Black and red wash on japanese paper
28.5 x 85 cm - 39 x 96 cm
Old accidents restored, lining, sunstain Framed

A poetic but above all very graphic drawing in this ambitious format (28.5 x 85 cm) depicting a snake in two colours. Probably produced around 1850-1860 at the very end of the Edo period by a small master in the wake of Hokusai and inspired by his mangas. Entirely done with a brush on Japan paper and in a good state of preservation despite its size and age.

Delivery free and insured in mainland France. Don't hesitate to contact me for more photos or information.

Currently visible on my stand at the Saint-Ouen flea market.
