Louis XVI Style Secretary In Precious Wood Marquetry

According to Riesener: Muséal Louis XVI style secretary in precious wood marquetry circa 1890-1900.

This elegantly shaped piece of furniture is decorated all around with a leafy trellis inlay.
It is topped with a recessed marble top with an openwork gilt brass gallery and it opens on the front with a flap decorated with a large ribboned gilt bronze medallion representing an allegory of Water, with putti playing with a Dolphin, in the manner of Clodion.
The interior theater is refined with a leather writing surface. The canted uprights are topped with gilt bronze mounts, tied with ribbons. The whole rests on feet decorated with bronze rosettes separated by an overhanging apron with a bronze outline.
The frame bears a hot-stamped number.
