18th Century Pair Of Italian Louis XV Lacquered Ed Giltwood Armchairs

18th Century Pair of Italian Louis XV Lacquered ed Giltwood Armchairs

The refined pair of armchairs of the Louis XV era was made in Venice, in the mid-eighteenth century. The structure is in finely carved walnut wood, lacquered and golden. It has a backrest with carved and perforated top element with an ornament of vegetable echo and shell, characteristic of the rocaille taste. The backrest is mixed and well proportioned, making the armchairs comfortable and usable. The armrests are moved and end with a curl carving. The legs are also moved and arched and have a round foot decorated with foliated motifs. The band under the seat has a rich central decoration, carved and perforated wood, also decorated rocaille. Very particular is a type of care in the sculpture of the ornaments where some leaf elements seem to overlap the volutes giving softness and movement to the decorations. Particularly evident this game is noticeable at the expense of the struts of the legs where they assume shades purple on the sculptures. The wood of the structure is lacquered in light blue and golden tones. Gold creates some illuminations that embellish and lighten the rich decorations. The armchairs are very sturdy and can therefore be used as furnishing elements against walls in entrances, halls or corridors, but also used as head of the table, next to sofas or in a bedroom and a study.
