Crystal And Gilt Bronze Cup, Louis XVI Style, Napoleon III Period
Elegant oval cut crystal bowl mounted on a finely chiseled and gilded bronze mount. The mount is adorned with laurel friezes, leafy medallions, and knotted ribbons. The scrolling side handles are decorated with medallions depicting female profiles in the style of Antiquity. The bowl rests on four richly decorated leafy feet. A fine example of the neoclassical style revived under the Second Empire.
