Patinated bronze bust of Diana, goddess of the hunt, nature, fertility, and the moon in Roman mythology. She is depicted with her traditional attributes: a crescent moon on her head and a bow around her chest. The Belgian artist rejected the academic representation of the goddess in favor of an author's Art Nouveau style.

George van der Straeten (1856-1928) was a French sculptor of Belgian origin. From 1885, he exhibited annually at the Paris Salon. He specialized in bronze female busts.
