This teaching material awakened a distant memory: that of the state of my laced leather boots filled with clay the day the math teacher had the crazy idea of having us experiment with using the surveying chain, in a freshly harvested beet field… It had rained that morning, my boots still remember having measured the 10 meters in the clay. The beautiful forged chain didn't complain about its time in the shower.
