View of the Yonne river in Burgundy by René HIS (1877-1960), a famous French painter specialist of landscapes, particularly riverbanks. His career was brilliant, as after being a student of Jules Lefebvre and Henri Biva, he began exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Français very early. He won numerous prizes and awards, including a medal at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. At that time the date he was also appointed member of the Artistes Français. Our painting measures 94cm wide by 73cm high at the canvas and 120cm by 98cm high framed.
Original canvas and frame in good condition. Just an old repair on the back invisible on the painted side. Very pretty painting with very beautiful colors.
