Regency Carved Wooden Watch Holder

Carved wooden watch holder from the Regency period. Lower part probably gilded or painted in Martin varnish originally, we can clearly see traces on the sides and at the back. The watch holder is surmounted by a seated bronze putto, the opening is done at the back by lifting a small iron latch, inside a hook to hang the watch. A spring mechanism on the door, perfectly functional (the protective leather is brittle and partly torn), it allows the watch to be placed on the front of the dial.
