Superb Caucasian rug from Armenia. Woven and knotted wool on wool in the traditional way. The weaving and knotting are a marvel of execution and the characteristics specific to ancient Caucasian productions. The pile is very short. The quality of the wool is remarkable, soft and silky. On the central field composed of two medallions, two distinct indigo blues are present and contribute to creating harmony and contrasts. The borders for this exceptional piece are composed of floral and plant motifs. Plant dyes. Circa 1870 / 1880 Very good overall condition, 3 discreet restorations.
