Object description :

"Eugène Hippolyte Lanoüe (1812-1872) Portrait Of A Man Bacchus, 19th Century"
Portrait of a young man in Bacchus by Eugène Hippolyte LANOÜE (1812 - 1872).

This French painter, trained at the academy of France in Rome was the student of Horace VERNET and Jean-Victor BERTIN.
He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1833.
He was named 1st prize of Rome in 1841.
He was made a Knight of the Legion of Honour.

This lovely portrait is painted in pastel, we feel the Italian influence, LANOÜE having spent several years in Italy.

This pastel is "in its juice", as I discovered it.
A slight trace of moisture in the upper right and left corners.
The 19th century wooden frame was formerly gilded.

Félix Hippolyte LANOÜE is listed in the BENEZIT, his works are exhibited in several French museums: Avignon, Caen, Cambrai, Dijon, Langres, Lisieux, Nîmes,  Niort, Tours.
Several paintings are at the Louvre museum.

Format with frame: 57 cm x 49 cm.
Visible format: 44.50 cm x 37 cm.

Price of the shipment in colissimo recommended hyper protected with insurance for France: 25 €.
