Important portrait of a notable signed (Jefsout?) and dated (1641). Ceremonial portrait of a character probably from the nobility ("RJin Jefsout Esq" as read at the bottom left at the signature). This oil on canvas marfouflé on panel presents the characteristics of painting from Northern Europe (Holland, North-East France, Flanders?). Beautiful details in the adornment and treatment of the clothing, fine treatment of the portrait and facial expression. Work framed by a Napoleon III frame with rounded corners which suits it well.
